The Mabula Ground Hornbill project in line with their mission to reduce the decline of the Southern Ground Hornbill established a breeding centre known as “The Baobab”. This centre is used for hand-raring harvested (rescued) chicks for reintroduction. There was a need to develop facades that attach to the outside of the orifices where the chicks look out into the aviaries. The intention was to make look and replicate natural nests as well as the artificial nests developed. Concrete and steel formed facades were developed and attached.
